Chief Geophysicists Forum

The Chief Geophysicists Forum is comprised not only of Chief Geophysicists, but also of managers involved in a geophysical technical role and senior level geophysicists that are willing to accept additional responsibilities. We get together once a quarter for a breakfast meeting to hear the latest CSEG, APEGGA and CAPP news and to tackle technical issues that benefit our industry community here in Calgary and beyond. The CGF is a Standing Committee of the CSEG.

CGF Reserves document on Geophysical Applications – Using Geophysics for Reserves and Resources Classification and Assessment

The CGF Reserves document has been approved by the CGF and the CSEG Executives and has been forwarded to the SPEE for a COGEH update. The document as written by the CGF sub-committee and is provided on this webpage for your reference. It is a modification of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists Oil and Gas Reserves Committee (SEG OGRC) recommendation to the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) for an update on Chapter 3 of the applications publication for the Petroleum Resource Management System Application Document (PRMS AD). Further modifications were made by the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (CSEG) Chief Geophysical Forum (CGF) Reserves sub-committee.

This initiative was undertaken by a sub-group of the CGF under its mandate "to tackle technical issues that benefit our industry community here in Calgary and beyond" (CSEG Recorder September 2010); driven as well by industry focus on 'new' reserve/resource booking processes resulting from changes to guidelines from several bodies including the SEC and COGEH.
